What Does Your Leadership Look Like?

Today’s Reading, 2 Chronicles 1 & Psalms 72

Focal Scripture: Psalms 72:6 “May the king be like rain that falls on the cut grass, like spring showers that water the earth.”

The Bible addresses leadership in many ways in its pages. It often tells about poor leadership and the damage that it causes to individuals and the nations. However, there are times when the scriptures describe the impact of healthy and positive leadership. Personally, I have seen good and bad leadership up close and personal. Good leadership is refreshing and it brings peace to one’s soul. Even in the midst of turmoil and trouble because good leadership guides and it doesn’t micromanage.

In today’s reading we see the benefits of good leadership. The Psalmist declares that he wants the kings leadership to be like rain on fresh cut grass and spring showers that water the Earth. So what does that mean? It means that good leadership is refreshing to people just like a rain shower is to the Earth. Good leadership gives life and it doesn’t bring death. It also means that in the midst of difficulty good leadership can overcome pain and hardship.

If you are in a season where you don’t have good leadership in your life I want to encourage you today. Seek the Lord and follow his leadership, know he has your best interest at heart. When men fail you the Lord never will. God should always be our source of strength and life. He is the only perfect leader and the one who overcomes death.

If you are a leader it is time to examine your leadership style and heart. I have seen leaders be successful according to the world’s standard, yet they lack integrity and treat people horribly. They see growth in their jobs but it always comes at a cost. I challenge you today to lead biblically. Your wants and desires our secondary to scripture. If you lead and it doesn’t bring life to everyone around you, soul searching must be done.

Good leadership is needed and it is an example on Earth of how the Lord leads his church. Let us be good leaders in our homes and churches. Believers should strive to never lead poorly and if they do, repentance must follow.

Lead biblically not like the world.

Tomorrow, I plan on reading Song of Songs 1-8
