Tell About the Righteousness of the Lord

Today’s Reading, Psalms 70-73

Focal Scripture: Psalms 71:15 “My mouth will tell about your righteousness and your salvation all day long, though I cannot sum them up.”

We all have stories and events in our lives that we repeat. Those who know us well can probably tell these stories just as well as we can ourselves. Our friends may even laugh as we tell the same familiar story for the thousandths time. The reason they can tell these stories just as well as us is because they are constantly repeated, talked about, and relived. However, we all should tell of the righteousness of the Lord more than we do anything else.

In today’s reading David declares that he will tell about the righteousness and salvation of the Lord all day long. He tells these stories and events because he was greatly impacted by the Lord. He understood what it was like to be saved from death. To be provided comfort in dire situations. To receive forgiveness on a large scale. To fail publicly and be called out by a friend. He not only tells these stories he sings them. The people know his heartache and his redemption. He declares what he knows.

The same should be true for us as believers. We should tell the stories of what God has done in our lives. Our friends and family should know how God has worked and how he is still working. We should go into much detail as needed to declare God’s justice and forgiveness. The people around us should be able to retell our God stories.

I challenge you today to tell your story about God’s righteousness and salvation in your life. Even though it might be hard to sum it up these stories need to be shared. Far too often we focus on the negative and the pain in our lives. What would happen if we focused on God’s provision and his faithfulness? I believe we would encourage our families and friends to have a deeper faith. We would be known as a people who love God and tell our stories because our storeis are worth sharing.

Let’s change the narrative around us today and bring glory to God and what he has done. Let’s declare his righteousness and his work in our lives. After all that is the best story worth sharing.

Tomorrow, I plan on reading Psalms 74-77
