A Heart Full of Integrity

Today’s Reading, Psalms 89, 96, 100, 101, 105, 132

Focal Scripture: Psalms 101:2 “I will pay attention to the way of integrity. When will you come to me? I will live with a heart of integrity in my house.”

Integrity matters. It matters so much that it is listed in scripture. It matters so much that David said he would pay attention to integrity so much that he would live with a full heart of integrity in his house.

So what is integrity? Integrity means consistency between one’s beliefs, words, and actions. It is a firm commitment to God’s laws even under intense pressure. Unwavering devotion to the God of the universe. A lifestyle that is consistent in public and in private.

The verse today declares that integrity should rule everything that we do in our lives. Even though it is not listed as a fruit of the spirit, when you combine them all together, you get integrity. It is a person who is full of joy, peace, patience, gentleness, kindness, and pure devotion to God and his word. It is a lifestyle that longs to live the same way, no matter where they are located physically.

I have been around men and women who have integrity. It is a breath of fresh air because you realize just how few people live their lives that way. I know I have taken for granted the people who live with integrity. It is not until I am around a person who doesn’t have any or very little that I realize how important it is to have in everyday dealings with people.

I am just going to be direct today in my question. Are you a person who has integrity? If I were to play your life for all to see at the movies, would your private life match your public life? Would you treat people the same? Is God a priority all the time or just when it’s convenient?

I hope and pray you will do as the Psalmist says and live with a heart full of integrity in your homes and life every day. The world is watching, but so are the ones in our homes.

Tomorrow, I plan on reading 2 Samuel 6-7 & 1 Chronicles 17
