Today’s Reading, John 3-4
Focal Scripture: John 3:36 “The one who believes in the Son has eternal life, but the one who rejects the Son will not see life; instead, the wrath of God remains on him.”
We all have choices to make in life. Sometimes these choices are simple and do not require much thought. Other times they are more serious and require contemplation over hours and sometimes even days. As an adult one of the biggest decisions you will ever make is the purchase of a home. This decision means you are putting down roots. Taking responsibility of an investment that will look after your family for years. It also means you are finically committing to paying for a place to live for an extended amount of time. It is one of the biggest choices you will ever make.
In today’s reading John lets his readers know that the one who believes in Jesus will have eternal life. However, the one who does not believe, has God’s wrath on him for all eternity. This decision to believe or not to believe is a choice that every person must make. It is personal and it has ramifications for all eternity. It is the difference between peace and punishment.
I challenge you today to examine what choice you have made about Jesus. In the readings today it is clearly outlined what makes a person a believer, and that is to be born again. To be saved from your sins requires a person to be born of not just water (physical) but also spiritually. This truth it what separates true converts from pretenders.
So what about you? Have you been born again? I tell people often that if you are born once you will die twice. However, if you are born twice you will die once. That decision is solely in your hands. The consequences are up to the Lord of Heaven. His choice is to reward those who trust in him with eternal life in his presence. The other choice he has made is to exact his wrath on unbelievers now and for all eternity.
So will you have eternal life or God’s wrath? He is offering you a way out of your sins and he is the only one who can. Trust him today and give him your life. I promise you, you won’t regret that decision.
Tomorrow, I plan on reading John 5-6
