Exalt The Mighty King

Today’s Reading, Psalms 96-102

Focal Scripture: Psalms 99:4-5 “The mighty King loves justice. You have established fairness; you have administered justice and righteousness in Jacob. Exalt the Lord our God; bow in worship at his footstool. He is holy.”

Our God is a mighty King. Sometimes I believe we forget this fact. We forget just how personal the relationship with our God is and how it affects our daily life. We don’t just worship any King but a fair King who loves justice.

From our own life experiences we know that many people who are in leadership usually have agendas. They make plans to hold onto their power and treat people differently if it will benefit them long term. However, our God and King doesn’t act that way. His actions are pure and perfect.

Because of this fact we should exalt the Lord and bow to worship him. We worship him because he is both good and holy. It amazes me that sometimes we are willing to worship things in our lives that are neither good or holy. Things that do not have justice or righteousness as their goal.

The challenge for believers from this passage is to worship God and him alone. We can trust that his decisions are good and his action are fair. We can get rid of other idols of gods in our lives. We worship God because he is holy. We can surrender our lives to him.

True worship happens in spirit and truth. Let us be a people that worships this way.

Tomorrow I plan on reading Psalms 103-105
