The Glory of the Lord

Today’s Reading, 2 Chronicles 2-5

Focal Scripture: 2 Chronicles 5:14 “And because of the cloud, the priests were not able to continue ministering, for the glory of the Lord filled God’s temple.”

What is something you long to see or experience in your life? Personally, I want to visit Israel and see everything I have read about for years. From others I have talked to who have made the trip, they say it takes your reading from black and white to vivid colors. You can connect the dots of cities and roads, buildings and holy places. As awesome as that would be we all should have one desire above all else, to see God’s glory.

In today’s reading we see the building of the temple and how that is accomplished. So much detail went into to the building process and it was amazing to read how every detail was thought about from the foundation to who would do what job. The building was to hold the ark of the covenant and be a place for God’s glory to dwell. When the tabernacle was finished we read that the glory of God fell down, filled the temple, and kept others from doing their jobs because his glory was so magnificent.

So the question I ask today is this. Do you prepare your life and heart to be ready for God’s glory? Do you do the difficult work on the front end to let God know you want him to show up in a big and mighty way? I want to be clear here, I am not talking about earning salvation. I am talking about preparing our minds, hearts, and bodies to experience a move of God that is biblical.

We know that as believers we receive the Holy Spirit when we get saved. After all, he is our down payment of salvation. My concern is that many of us hinder God’s glory in our lives because of how we live and how we approach our relationship with God.

The challenge we have as believers is to prepare ourselves for God to move in us and experience his presence. Far too often we walk this journey in our own power. We become scared of God’s glory. I know personally I want more of God and his mighty work. However, for that to happen I must be willing to prepare myself and prepare myself for suffering.

I want to see Gods glory. I want to know him in a deep way. I want to have to stop what I am doing and watch in awe and wonder because I am in the presence of the King.

Do you long for God’s glory? Prepare yourself so when it shows you can worship with a right heart. God may we experience your glory in awe inspiring ways.

Tomorrow, I plan on reading 2 Chronicles 6-8
