Being Equipped Properly

Today’s Reading, Numbers 31-32

Focal Scripture: Numbers 31:3 “So Moses spoke to the people, “Equip some of your men for war. They will go against Midian to inflict the Lord’s vengeance on them.”

Having the right equipment goes a very long way. If you are trying to play golf with a pool noodle you may never finish. If you try to play soccer with a bowling ball you will end up in the hospital. Being equipped for what your doing in sports or in life is a must. When you’re not properly equipped you are not focused and you lose interest.

In today’s reading the Israelites are about to go to war. Moses as a good leader gives the message to make sure the people are equipped. This means with the tools necessary for the job. An understanding of the plan and expectations of the end goal. Being equipped made all the difference.

In our lives we need to make sure that we are equipped for what is coming our way. As believers too often people neglect prayer time and bible reading. They get caught up in being busy. However, the only way to be truly equipped for life’s struggles is to know God intimately.

This may seem simple but too many people do not equip themselves spiritually. They will train for jobs and for personal goals. Then spiritually they never train or equip themselves for a life long journey. Being a believer is a marathon over treacherous terrain. We must equip our hearts, minds, souls and bodies.

I challenge you today to inventory your life and ask if you have equipped yourself for the Christian walk. If you have not today is a good day to start.

Tomorrow, I plan on reading Numbers 33-34
