The God Who Works Wonders

Today’s Reading, Psalms 74-77

Focal Scripture: Psalms 77;13-15 “God, your way is holy. What god is great like God? You are the God who works wonders; you revealed your strength among the peoples. With power you redeemed your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.Selah”

Holy is a word that is thrown around in Christendom a lot. It is mentioned that God is holy. It is mentioned that we should be holy. But what does that mean? It means that God is separate from everything else. Nothing can compare to him. He is unique and different.

This is supported by the following verses. No other God is like the God of Israel. No other God can perform the signs and wonders that he performs. He redeems people and delivers them from difficult situations. He is not just an observer but a participant in the lives of his people. He works wonders when others can’t.

The psalmist here is driving home the point that the Lord is different. He works in ways that changes people and outcomes. God is a wonder worker. As believers we have much evidence of this truth. Our salvation is one of the greatest wonders ever to take place.

Believer I encourage you today to focus on the wonders of God. To focus on how he works in the lives of people. But also to make it applicable. He works in the lives of individual believers.

What a comfort to know that our God works to change lives and hearts. He can bring us from death to life and that is a tremendous act of wonder. Never forget that God’s redemptive work is the single greatest act of wonder in the universe. He redeems sinners and forgives sins. Now our lives have been forever changed.

Tomorrow I plan on reading Psalms 78-79
