Your Reputation Matters

Today’s Reading, Daniel 4-6

Focal Scripture: 6:5 “Then these men said, “We will never find any charge against this Daniel unless we find something against him concerning the law of his God.”

How people view you matters. We all have a reputation. Sometimes these reputations are good and sometimes they are bad. Nevertheless people come to a conclusion about us on our actions and our words. Decisions will be made on our reputation. Then there are people who will try to use your reputation against you if it fits their agenda.

This is where our reading has us today. Daniel has a great reputation. One who is set apart and God has his hand on everything that he does. They know he does everything well even worship the Lord in heaven well. So they decided to use his faith against him and have that as the catalyst for his destruction. They convinced a law to be made that anyone who worships another God besides the king would be thrown into the lions den. The Bible tells us that Daniel knew this and decided to worship anyway. His reputation was above reproach. His enemies knew worship was a priority.

So what is your reputation? Do people know you as a Daniel? Is your faith in God so well known that it is obvious you won’t defile your beliefs to fit in. If not I pray that you will seek the heart of God and get rid of anything that is stopping you today from having that reputation.

If you haven’t made the best decisions and your reputation is not where it should be you can change that over time. All it takes is devotion to the Lord. Be willing to stand up against those who may challenge your faith. Be encouraged that doing the right thing will lead to a reputation of faithfulness.

Be like Daniel and face your critics with confidence. Build a godly reputation for God’s glory.

Tomorrow I plan on reading Daniel 7-9
